Here's the slightly revised handout that I use when I teach meadmaking. Two basic recipes, plus some further info, tips, etc. Details are always changing, but this is essentially the way I've been making it for over twenty years. It's relatively l...

did you delete the post I made to you with directions to Kerrys? she was concerned about that being viewable to the public (..i.e..seen by unwanted crazies) but now I can't find the post to remove it.

let me know, thanks! ~~Barb

I was at the Maypole to the right if you were facing the ocean. Can't believe we were both there and didn't recognize each other!! I cut out after the closing ritual just after the maypoles since it started raining and I was cold. Do you have an updated pic you could send or post on here? Coffee at the Wagon sounds good! What days are you free? Mon-tues-weds are the best days for me. I work Th-F-Sat nights 12 hour shifts and on Sundays I usually am a slug recovering from work and cleaning house after my slobby family has trashed the place while was working/sleeping. Men can be such pigs. LOL

Hey you! Missed you at Beltane. It as fun....until the rain started in. but at least I got to dance the Maypole and catch up with friends I haven't seen since last year. I don't get up to LF very often since my parents moved to Bucksport after the Strike at Int'l Paper Mill but if you send me your street address, I'll give you a buzz the next time I'm headed up that way and maybe we can have coffee and catch up on the MANY years that have passed since we last saw each other in High School. How are your bees? Hope they survived the winter. They are a precious commodity now with the increase in Hive deaths r/t whatever virus/bacteria is attacking them. Peace out and have great day! ~~~Barb

Hi CB,

Yes, indeed. Our next ritual will be on June 21st. I'll post the general announcement at the beginning of that month.

The Perfect Swarm (updated 6/12/08)

Not sure when I was first drawn to the idea of beekeeping. Guess I'd have to say my interest was peaked after my first taste of mead. But I think it was more than that really. There's something about honeybees that I find very appealing. Their buzzing is just one of the many summer sounds that I love and what dish isn't improved with a bit of honey? I didn't realize how amazing they were until I learned to be a keeper of bees. I know that's what we're called, but somehow, it seems like they keep… Continue
