Hi Joanne, thanks for dropping by my page! I'm dealing with a lessened version of the flu, but it is still uncomfortable (especially being pregnant and already a bit uncomfortable at times!). I am really hoping tomorrow is a snow day from work (I am a teacher) so I can stay home and regroup!

Joanne, I just checked out your blog and watched your video of your Thanksgiving walk to the river. As you know, we live in Buxton as well. All my life (except for 3 years spent in college in NY) I have always lived within 30 mins of the river. What a glorious area this is! I love the video!

Hi Joanne! Thanks for adding me! My hubby is from Australia (this will be his first winter here) so he can definately relate to your occassional bouts of homesickness. He's also got family in the UK and has been there a few times, including Stonehenge.

As you know, my group is not like that.
It is a happy and spiritual group.
I cannot believe someone is spreading slander like that.

sol-template-art-Terry.rtfI have never been to Ireland with exception to a stop over at Shannon Airport on my way home from my 1st tour of the 1st Gulf war. We weren't allowed off the plane due to a terrorist threat so I didn't even see the duty free shops. Back then I wasn't allowed to travel much in the U.K. because of the gaelic spelling of my name and being a "Yank" from New England with suspect political affiliations. I was turned away from a posting to the U.K. in 1980 because of those things I just mentioned. So I learned the hard way that I am just another american with a gaelic name and kept my politics to myself after that.
As for the Samhain rite, I will upload it here for you to look at and let me know what you think as you seem the more experienced in this realm.

It all started when I was stationed up near Wisconsin in the mid to late 80's and I discovered the Milwaukee Irish fest at Lughnassa or close to it in August every year. After a couple of annual trips I met some folks who were sort of on the path. Just as I was really starting to focus more and learn the practice, I got deployed overseas for the 1st Gulf war for 2 years and lost the focus. After I retired from active duty and moved back home a couple of years ago, I became disenfranchised with monothiestic religions and decided to refocus on the druid path again. Now I can actually dedicate some of my time to following the path as I was meant to all of those years ago. I have more free time now, a place with some soltitude and no worries about being deployed to another war zone again. As I have difficulties with strangers and crowded places, the solitary practice will work best for me for now. Maybe I will send you a copy of my 1st Samhain rite once I have it tweaked in a couple of weeks.

Maybe we can share a few druid things by internet. I am always looking to learn anything everyday.

Profile Information

Religious Leanings:
Druid
English Druid living in Maine and loving it although I have occasional bouts of missing the UK. This is definitely home for me now.

Have a love/hate relationship with technology since I work with it all day so when I am not working I love to be outdoors in nature. I try to garden (Maine is not as kind as the UK weather wise), I love to read and currently studying herbalism. Love music but play no instruments except for banging on drums in the middle of the woods when none but the spirits of the forest can hear!

Have some acres of woods that I like to lose myself in and looking into the possibility of keeping bees!
